The Bosco Verticale under a white mantle: a historic photo

DECEMBER 28, 2020

It is a historic photo taken by our colleague Francesco Caroprese, vice president of the Lombardy Order of Journalists, showing the Bosco Verticale residential building complex, located in the Isola district of Milan, covered by a thick blanket of snow. A photo of exceptional beauty that, posted on Facebook, is going around the world and getting a lot of support.

In fact, the Lombard capital has never seen so many centimetres of snow since the structure was inaugurated in 2014. As you can see in the pictures, the green of the two huge buildings is almost covered by the white of the snow. A spectacle of rare splendour. Many “VIPs” live or have lived in the Bosco Verticale. Coach Luciano Spalletti and footballers Ivan Perisic and Felipe Melo, to name but a few.

But also actors, actresses, models and other well-known personalities from the world of entertainment. The Bosco Verticale, an architectural jewel in Via Garibaldi, was designed by Stefano Boeri. It is characterised above all by the composition of 2000 tree species.

This redevelopment plan was a good idea, given that until a few years ago Milan’s Isola district was considered to be run-down and degraded. Now, thanks to a redevelopment process started in 2010, it has become one of the most beautiful and elegant areas of Milan and one of the most innovative neighbourhoods in Europe.
